ARTIST STUDIOS

 

Marble House Project has nine individual artist studio spaces.  Artists are assigned studio space upon arrival based on their project description and studio needs. Studios are available to artists 24 hours a day. 

 

Music Studio

Where  The music studio is just a  three minute walk down the road from Marble House Project.  Situated privately, musicians need not worry about noise and disturbing other residents.    

Whats Included :   Baby grand piano, drum set, organ, various small instruments, writing desk, Amp. studio speakers, 

Description and size  The music studio has a maximum height of 16 feet. and is well lighted.  The main space is is 19'4 by 16' which also contains a small kitchenette and stone fireplace.  There are two additional rooms and a full bathroom.  

 

Dance and Performance Studio

Where:  The Dance/Performance space resides within the Manley-Lefevre House.    

Description:   We call this room the old swimming pool because it was the first indoor swimming pool constructed in Vermont.  Renovated in 2013 as our dance studio and clad with marble walls, the old swimming pool room now has radiant heat, a sprung dance floor and track lighting.  There is egress into both the main house and out to the gardens.  High windows flank the entire space so natural light is abundant.

Size:  26' by 40' with 11' ceilings.

 

Culinary arts studio

Where: Behind the event barn and adjacent to the organic gardens

Description:  The prep kitchen has  48" refrigerator, oven, small freezer, cooktop, icemaker,  pots, pans, utensils and a variety of spices. We also have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer (household size), Cuisinart food processor, Vitamix professional Series blender, Excalibur Food Dehydrator, Waring Pro professional warming trays and a Regalware professional coffee maker plus other small kitchen equipment. Outside there is a large smoker, two wood fire pits and a large gas grill.

Garage Studios

Studios in the garage are flexible spaces.  Studio spaces are given to each resident based on their studio needs and their projects.  The Garage Studios are primarily used for visual artist residents.  There are three studios in this building, a kitchen, and a bathroom. 

Where:  The Garage Space opposite the main house. 

Garage Studio 1  is a large space with ample light, desks, chairs and lots of floorspace.  The walls have homasote for tacking up work.  This studio has internet.   

Size:  24'10"  by 14'4''  Ceiling height 7'10'   

Garage Studio 2 and 3:  Often these two studio are used by one resident.  Homasote walls, internet, worktops, lighting, chairs, storage and ample daylight.

ICE House Studios

There are two artist studios , an ADA compliant half bathroom, sink and electric stove in the Ice House. 

Where:  The Ice House is up the hill near the gardens and barn.    

Ice House Studio 1 This studio is wood paneled.  Often used for textiles or as a writing studio, there is ample floor space and windows surround the entire studio.  There is an architects desk, worktops, track lighting and a wood burning stove.             

Size:  19'1" by 19'9''  Ceiling height 8'

Ice House Studio 2. is a white room with windows on two sides and wood floors, ample wall space, lighting and work space

Size:  12' by 15'3"   Ceiling height  7'

 

Quarry Office Studio

Where:  Next to the Ice House and near the barn and Gardens.  

Description.   Wood paneled walls in both rooms with a screened in porch overlooking the marsh.   Writing desks, lamps. chairs, and easy access to exterior space.  This is a summer cabin with no heat or internet.  Often used for writers or sculptors needing outdoor space with easy access to a studio.  The bathroom and kitchen is next door in the Ice House.  

Size:  12' by 12'  Ceiling height 12'     Additional smaller room  12' by 7'8"   Screened in porch  8' by 20'6"
