Based in Paris, Céline Pelcé works as a food artist. She began working with food while working as interior designer : she considers both food and architecture as elements built on a same action : ingestion, extraction of matter and techniques, in different transformation processes. And this, in order to respond to basic human needs : housing and eating. She now uses food as a material to build artistic experiences : food enables her to express the poetic of territories, culinary rituals, and craft techniques. Her research grows in collaboration with chefs and craftsmen, with their codes, and rules. The researches are then staged and proposed to the public, as guests.

These experiences consist in food installations, performances, or orchestrated meals. In each of these format, Céline uses food to convey a story, and the guest is invited to embed it, by the act of eating. The experience ends in the disapperance. These situations include a dimension of hospitality : as the piece starts to be shared and eaten, each guest has the room to be a part of it, and to make the piece his own.

Marente van der Valk is a Dutch-born, London based chef, (food) designer and food stylist. She graduated in 2012 from a MA Design and Environment at Goldsmiths University of London, and has since then been focusing on projects and events with an emphasis on environmental awareness and community mindedness. Her work is often a multi-sensory experience where a love for bringing people together results in a wealth of flavours and colours and a feel-good atmosphere. Currently, Marente is six months into a year-long culinary residency at the Jan van Eyck Academy’s Food Lab in Maastricht. Founding the Food lab at JvE and running it on a day-to-day basis has enabled her to investigate new approaches and angles to her cooking processes and the interactive properties of food and the act of eating. By focusing on the wealth of the edible plant world - using organic, seasonal produce straight from local farmers- and the use of the whole vegetable where possible, as well as considering meat to be a treat, she strives to have a minimal impact on the environment.

Ysanet Batista is a queer Black-Dominican woman, born in Harlem, NY and raised in between the Dominican Republic and Hialeah, FL. Ysanet graduated from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI and spent a couple of years working in major hotel companies before transitioning to community based work. When she is not cooking or developing Woke Foods, Ysanet is helping other people start their own worker-cooperative businesses at Green Worker Cooperatives at their Coop Academy. Her passions include holistic cooking, farming, writing, and community organizing. She is inspired by the power and magic of Black and Brown people, the ocean, and the Now. She is currently a student at Farm School NYC earning a certificate in Urban Agriculture. Ysanet loves eating Platano Maduros and talking gut health!

I am a Culinary Artist, Creative Consultant, and Writer. My work focuses on food at the intersection of emotion and consumption. Some of my past works include an experimental frozen desserts concept, KarmaPop; the creation of Baltimore’s first food vending tricycle, The PieCycle; and conceptual pop-up dinners. I have assisted at the annual Icon Dinner at The James Beard House, was named a “Woman To Watch” by the Baltimore Sun, and had the honor of being listed in Cherrybombe Magazine’s Cherrybombe 100 as a “Change Agent” in the food industry. I currently work and reside in Baltimore, Maryland.

Stefanie Sacks, MS, CNS, CDN is a nationally recognized Culinary Nutritionist and leading authority on eating to prevent and manage illness. As a chef, nutritionist and innate healer she uses food as a conduit to deep transformation. She inspires, educates and empowers people to eat and live to their full potential. In addition to being a frequent print, radio and television media guest expert, in 2017 Stefanie was inducted into Les Dames D'Escoffier, an international philanthropic organization of women leaders in the field of food, fine beverage and hospitality. She is a member of the International Association for Culinary Professionals and sits on the advisory board of the Natural Gourmet Institute, A Greener World and Amagansett Food Institute. Khao'na Kitchen (pronounced KAH-OWN-A), founded by Cole Carothers and Shilpa Nandwani, was built on the footsteps of revolutionaries before us who believed in the power of community and fought for their rights to thrive. Khao’na means to "eat now" in Visayan and to "feast now" in Punjabi and Khao’na Kitchen is a fusion between Filipino and Indian culture, is cooperatively owned and offers wellness coaching, educational workshops & curriculum, and the catering of traditional Indian + Filipino meals with a healthy twist. Khao'na Kitchen is based in Brooklyn, NY and is a queer, gender non-conforming, woman and people of color-run cooperative. Khao'na Kitchen prides itself on delicious, unique, non-factory methods of creating sustainable food while decolonizing our minds and methods of what it means to create & eat food that has ridges, curves, & bumps yet never sacrificing flavor or integrity.

Tessa Liebman is a chef, event producer and native Brooklynite. After spending over ten years in restaurants, as the Executive Chef of Shiraz Events and teaching a culinary program she began working for herself and started the dinner series Methods & Madness in 2012. "Dinner with my Creative Crushes" is how Tessa describes her Methods & Madness dinners. Having studied a combination of Sociology and Art History at SUNY Purchase before becoming a chef she had a community of artists whom she longed to collaborate with. With the dinners she celebrates their work and enjoys shaking up her kitchen routine. Tessa has worked with typographers, painters, photographers, perfumers and foragers to produce interactive events/menus informed by the artists’ work, their “methods” (tools, processes, etc.) and their “madness” (their inspiration and motivation). In the past few years she has collaborated with more and more perfumers, translating their stories and ingredients into food experiences.

LIGHT YEAR is an ongoing public art video projection project presented monthly on the Manhattan Bridge Anchorage in DUMBO and live online by John Ensor Parker, Leo Kuelbs & Glowing Bulbs in collaboration with the DUMBO Business Improvement District and the NYC DOT. Since its launch, LIGHT YEAR has presented the work of over 225 artists and curators from around the world.

Join us Friday, October 26th for the last culinary event of our 2018 season. Chef in residence, Gabriela Álvarez will create an immersive tasting of the various dishes she’s been experimenting with over the course of her three-week residency at Marble House Project. While in residency, Gabriela has focused on recipes that are a birthed from the African and Taíno diasporas, such as bacalaito and arroz con gandules. This is an extension of her cooking practice exploring identity and cultural preservation through food. 5:30pm, $65. The curated menu will feature local meats prominently, please contact Marble House with dietary questions.

Gabriela Álvarez is a chef and founder of Liberation Cuisine, which she created in 2014 with the intention of nourishing movements for social change with sustainable ingredients and practices. She began cooking after studying public health in academia for several years; the kitchen became her way to tackle inequalities in the food system, while maintaining a focus on individual agency and lineage. Her own relationship with food has served as a declaration of self-worthiness in a world that diminishes brown bodies as well as a point of connection to her Puerto Rican ancestry. Her menus are an exploration of her own identities and a reflection of the communities and collectives with whom she collaborates. Gabriela Álvarez is a chef and founder of Liberation Cuisine. With her roots in Eastern European cooking and her Hungarian heritage, Csilla's approach to food is simplistic and seasonally driven. Her menu highlights many ingredients from local farms and co-ops around western PA. For Csilla, it's important to create a relationship between the farmers, the food and the consumer.

Amanny Ahmad is an artist, chef, forager, ikebana enthusiast, writer, food activist and traveler based in new york city. born in utah to palestinian immigrants, ahmad spent her early life traveling back-and-forth between the southwest and her family’s village in the west bank, where her interest in foraging began, evolving as a way of preserving the culinary traditions of her family. since then, ahmad, who is a self-taught chef, has studied culinary traditions and wild food ways in italy, mexico, palestine, and north america, in an effort to record and help preserve indigenous culinary traditions and methods of survival.
